Style icons

I always say I have amazing friends, its great when you have people around you supporting to do better. All my friends are very fashionable and they are my style icons. When I started this blog I said I am going to look at people that inspire me in my fashion sense both internal and external. I have decided that this month that Shade, Margaretta and Mary are my style icons. Why are you asking? Simply because I love their individual fashion sense they make it work for their own body shapes.

I love their everyday fashion sense but what I really love and respect from each them is when they use a traditional material and make a modern outfit from it. To me they are saying look we don't all have to conform to a particular image to be classed as stylish. couple of months ago I said its like we have lost our individuality within fashion, to me there is no point of 10 people all looking the same, all acting the same, all liking the same I look for 11th that says I am different, I have my own sense of style.

Like I said previously that I truly believe that style, fashion, body image, is understanding who we are have the conviction to express it. For me personally this is what these beautiful ladies have and do.

In the “what is beauty” post I said that young people need better role models that it’s like we are condition the youth to believe beauty must look and behave in one certain way. Sorry but NO, if you ask me beauty is these three ladies, as the love, respect, understand their internal fashion this is what I call role models not the celebrities that if they don't like the way they look they get airbrushed. No real individual women, that learns and works on their internal fashion first and then when it comes to external fashion it becomes effortless. For these reason they are my style icons luv ya chickens. xoxoxo

Personal note

hey all I hope you all well, its been a while since I last blog anything so I apologise for this, I am know back and ready to show some new exciting things. By the end of this week will be post my wining summer outfits, I think its safe to say summer is truly over, but don't be packing your summer clothing away just yet going to show how we can still wear our maxi dress, jumpsuits etc in the next coming months.

I am so looking forward to the full winter collections to come out, I seen a lovely pair off winter boots which I think is a must buy for my winter wardrobe. I think this winter for me is going to be about the comfy but stylish look.

The last couple of months I have really grown more into my style, I am thinking this is because I am becoming more confident, the important thing about fashion is not the clothing but the person wearing the clothing, remember I said before their are two different types of fashion internal and external, so I have been working on my internal fashion  dealing with my own confident, and body image issues because their is always room for growth, that the beautiful thing about fashion in general is that it’s a leaning experience no one is ever going to get it right all the time. I will always argue that as females especially we need to always work on our internal fashion as our exterior fashion can only hide so much.

BEAUTY

So what is beauty? Can anyone really and truthfully give me a difention what is beauty, I can show someone and say this is pure beauty this is what everyone should look like, but I am wrong if I do this because everyone in their own right is beauty.

So I had originally been working on something else to put on the blog today so please bare with me, yesterday someone made the statement that I am ugly. I am not angry at the fact the person called me it, I am more angry that as an adult they don’t know the consequences of such words. I believe it was last month I said we need to take a greater reasonability to show the youth of today that beauty comes in all different shapes, sizes, and looks that we can not leave it for the media to do.

It’s a fact that some individuals self harm, try and commit suicide, commit suicide, turn to drugs and alcohol because they don’t think they are pretty enough. They’ve been told by their friends, peers, society and family that their body images is not good enough when this going to stop when are we going to wake and say Enough?

So I beg the question is it really worth this constant battle to have someone tell you are beautiful? I just feel it needs to come from within we need to have the confidence in our own body images to not give a damn to be frank of what people think, we waste to much time and energy on trying to be accepted by peers, society, friends and family.

The word ugly is such a powerful word, when said to someone. The word ugly is often used as a weapon to hurt, be little a person, the term ugly is also used to describe a unpleasant situation.

“1. Unpleasant or repulsive, esp. in appearance: "she thought she was ugly and fat".

2. (of a situation or mood) Involving or likely to involve violence or other unpleasantness: "the mood in the room turned ugly".  

So this begs the question what gives one person the right to call another person ugly?

Because she called me ugly does this mean I have to question myself? NO call me ugly as for me ugly means  I am different from everyone, so I thank her, she can’t use such a powerful word on me because I just don’t care what she thinks.

I am not here to tell you what to say to people, what to call people I just really what you to think what if someone said it to and you was the type of person that had low self esteem, a lack of the fundamental confidence how would you feel?

When I gave a talk to Hackney Quest I said to them there is a difference saying something in you and saying something out a loud. When you say something aloud you have the intention to hurt, to be little to make that person question them self what gives us the right to so this to someone.

It frustrates me that many young women don’t have the self confidence and the self believe in them self. I wish if I could I will build this within them and get them to the point of realising their own beauty.

I feel that I am going on a bit and losing my point. I am going to leave you with this beauty is happiness, its going a full day without receiving a single compliment and being a 100% confident you look amazing only when you tell your self that your beautiful would somebody’s words not matter not count. That saying of they will fall on deaf ears you can’t hear something that can’t affect you.

Just at a quick glance i have seen 2 dresses i want to get from new look.

This floaty flower dress is £14 was £34.99 i love it because its different because its not the normal type of dress i would wear. This is defo a must have for my holiday.

This pink bow dress i been watching it for awhile i like it but don't love it and never thought it was worth £26.99 but know the sale price is £10, is defo going to be one of my great buys.

H&M part 1

I am loving H&M this summer they have really up their game in the fashion trend, I remember years ago plus sizes had a little section in stores and they was mostly selected stores.  So I am going to show you some pieces I found on the H&M website.

Flared flower dress, I absolutely love this dress at the moment I am getting into design on clothing with more colours. H&M has this dress in sizes 8-24 and is priced at £7.99. I am going to be buying this dress for my holiday in July; I am going to be wearing it with gold flat sandals, with gold accessorises.

This blue wide fitted jersey is another holiday buy; I recently ordered it online for my holiday. I bought it because its light and practical. The dress is currently on sale for £2.99 and they have sizes up to 24. They also stock the dress in a coral colour.

I am personally going wear it with flip flops, and have a big oversized beach bag.

Love, love, love these mini skirts from H&M I personally own them in black, grey, navy, and black and white stripe. You just can’t go wrong with them, priced at £3.99. I wear them with a vest top and a cardigan black thick tights and a pair of pumps.  Also looks great with a vest top, blazer jacket and heels big chunky jewellery completes the outfit.

I love maxi dresses but I am really fussy with them, if they are fitted maxi dress like this one I tend not to buy bright a colour in them because I feel it concentrates on my stomach area. This blue maxi dress is again a great buy at the moment it’s on sale for £7.49 and they have sizes up to 24. It’s a great everyday comfy dress I love wearing maxi dress to work. I wear them wear flat sandals or pumps and have thin cardigan with it. But in the winter this is also a great wear, just throw an oversize jumper top. Or if you have a boyfriend shirt just use the middle button and it will give you a different look to see you through the winter.

This figure fitted pink dress this is one of my like but don’t love it but would buy it. Yes I am crazy lol. I am just finding it hard to think what I would wear it with to tell you the truth.  Because the dress is pink and gold I think I would go for a nude colour platform peep toes shoe or a very pale gold ones, but with this dress I would have to have it in my hand when buying shoes for it just to get the perfect match.

The reason I have chosen this dress is because I think its just stunning like there is not one thing that I can personally find a negative with it. The only downfall is that the biggest size H&M have is a size 16. I am going to be looking at other retailers that have this style of dress in various different sizes. It’s got my wow, wow, wow, and love, love, love it. Simple dresses like this is what I like nothing to fussy but its going to be how I do my hair what accessorise and shoes that will make the outfit
